Guavapass Bangkok : access (almost) all yoga studios

You might have heard about it. Guavapass is a recent company founded in 2015 that proposes a new way to practice sport accross Asia. They launched their service in Bangkok last year and it’s definitely a solution that can fit a yogi : a lot of yoga studios are now members and can be selected, from Lad Phrao to Bang Na.

Beside Bangkok, Guava Pass is now available in Singapore, Hong Kong and many more.

What is Guavapass Bangkok ?

Feeling sporty ? Guavapass lets you practice many different sports, as much as you want for a definite monthly fee. You can book your online on their website or via their mobile app and attend courses of yoga (of course) but also of fitness, crossfit, muay thai, pilate, you name it. One thing though, on my opinion, it was very woman oriented.

It’s pretty convenient as a lot of studios are part of the program in all areas of Bangkok. The website is well designed and you can easily filter the discipline you want, the area and the timing.

Yoga Elements – Review

Yoga Elements is one of the oldest yoga studio in Bangkok. Created in 2001, Yoga Elements worked hard to create a nice reputation and a powerful visibility without becoming a franchise. The place is nice and full of light with a direct view on the surroundings, making it a great place to enjoy a yoga session.

Trika Yog – Yoga Studio Review

Trika Yog is one of Bangkok’s top yoga studio located in Sathorn, near Chong Nonsi BTS. The studio is named after the concept of Trika, the 3 hindu goddess of the Sakti trinity (power, knowledge and power of action). Master Aman is the main teacher in Trika Yog and holds daily classes of many different kinds of yoga. He is from Rikishesh, India where he held courses before coming to Bangkok in 2011.

Trika Yog studio offers different rooms for your yoga practice in a very nice environment, on the 5th floor of Sathorn Building. The Yoga studio feels very professional with high ceilings and top equipment offered.

Yoga classes available

A lot of different options of classes are offered including the classic Vinyasa, Hatha, Iyengar or Ashta. One of the specialty of Trika Yog is to propose Wheel yoga classes (Darma yoga wheel) : you use an additional tool of shaped in wheel that help you to go deeper in your move and open some techniques. You can also find some Yoga Fly twice a week and some prenatal yoga sessions.

There are 2 main rooms for practice of yoga (the biggest one is mostly used by master Aman, the second one is set up with the Yoga Fly equipment). Another 3rd room is also used for Vinyasa yoga but I find it a bit too small.

Schedule

During the week, many classes are proposed in the morning (from 7 to 9am) and in the evening (from 6 to 9pm). There’s also a lunchtime session from noon to 1pm.

In the weekend, the classes are more dispatched within the day, especially on saturday.

The options are many and you should find a spot that fits in your planning. I really like the fact that they propose a lot of classes in the evening every 30 minutes.
There are a lot of different teachers (more than 10) but Aman and Nat are providing most of the courses.

Divine Yoga Thong Lor & Ari – Review

Divine Yoga is far away from a Yoga factory. The place is quite small and you have to find it. The number of classes is more limited but the spirit behind this yoga studio is definitely interesting. Divine Yoga promotes a yoga way of life and a global vision of the benefits the yoga can bring you and they prefer to focus on the core and doing it the right way, rather than doing too much.

Master Sanjiv Chaturvedi runs the school, and studied yoga in the Bihar School of Yoga (India). The teachers are coming from India, Thailand and Japan.

Yoga classes available

This school focuses most of the classes on yoga. Therefore, you can different kinds as Hatha, Vinyasa and other specified exercices specifically design on stretching or sun salutations. A colorful schedule will help you to make your choice between the yoga you like and the intensity (low, medium, high) you require.

Beside yoga, the only classes that are proposed are Zumba, on thursday evenings in Ari, and other dances (bollywood, etc) almost every days in Thonglor.

Schedule

Being a smaller school the choices of courses are less considerate than other big studios (like Absolute Yoga), especially in Ari. in Ari, the classes are every mornings (8-10.30AM) and late afternoon (5.30-8PM). In the week-ends, the classes are more packed during the day.

In Thong Lor, there are more classes during the day, up to 9 different ones from 7AM to 9PM.

Absolute Yoga – review

Absolute Yoga is a group of studios available throughout Bangkok and Thailand. It is now the largest yoga center in the country and they were the first to bring hot yoga in Bangkok. Absolute Yoga includes studios in Siam, Chidlom, Phrom Phong, Silom, Ladprao, Pinklao etc.  In the studios I visited, I could testify the idea was to bring high end yoga experience with big rooms to practice and a lot of yogis.

Installations are pretty new and well maintained and there are many, many, many teachers. That can be a good thing as you can find the right one for you but they might change from one week to the other. The idea here is to get sure you get your class when you need it.

Yoga classes available

As a very big yoga center, Absolute Yoga doesn’t specialize in one type of activity. For yoga alone, you can choose from Hatha yoga, Vinyasa, hot flow, hot series, yin yang, etc. So you can try almost everything, maybe even too much ? nah, you can’t say that.

Many other classes are available, including Pilates (very popular in Bangkok), cycle and coreblast (mixing pilates and more strength oriented).

Schedule

The number of classes is enormous. You can basically pick almost any time of the day to find a class, especially during the busy 6-8PM period. This is definitely one of the good side of the studio, you’ll find a class when you can go.

absolute yoga

Offers

You can make sure there are some monthly offer or specific promotions when you get there.
Right now, you can get a free trial class if you subscribe to their newsletter. Pretty cool.

Prices are fairly high. Important thing, note that you are stuck with the studio where you purchased your membership card. You can’t go and use your unlimited package in different studios. I find that a bit harsch as the benefit of a big network like Absolute Yoga is to be everywhere.

Prices :
Drop-in class is 750thb
30 classes is 16,500thb
Unlimited 1 year is 41,900thb
